Steele Foundation Featured in DFI Magazine Cover Story

Apr 15, 2025 | Article

Steele Foundation is featured in a recent Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) Magazine cover story. The article, “Digging Deep in Washington, DC,” was published in the March/April 2025 issue of the magazine and details the company’s innovative work on Claret, a 12-story residential project in Mount Vernon Triangle.

“Tasked to maximize below-grade space for the new development, Steele Foundation convertedan existing parking lot by excavating up to approximately 30 ft (9 m) deep. The team navigated many challenges, including proximity to an adjacent building, limited access to the site, and a mandate to preserve a century-old Heritage Tree,” describes Steele’s President, Andy Steele, and Vice President, Morgan Eddy, in the byline. They step through how the Steele team combined engineering rigor, cross-team collaboration, and sustainability expertise to deliver the award-winning project, which was previously honored with the 2024 ABC Metro Washington Excellence in Construction Award.
